The Inside Scoop
For eight more days my latest release in stores will remain “Churches at Night”. I’ve been working for quite awhile on getting “Sloan” in stores with my record label B & R Music Group and they’ve finally begun getting it available there. “Sloan” will hit all stores on June 30th! Sorry it took so long. My label and I were having some issues getting it going.
In the interim I’ve been working as usual. I have quite a few projects I’m sitting on that I haven’t released anywhere. So though I may have been quite in releasing music I’ve still been working hard. I do try and post regularly across my socials. I have a lot of content and inside looks there that you cannot find anywhere else. I’d love it if you hit your favorite social, found me, and gave me a follow! I’d appreciate it a crazy amount and will be sure to follow back.
Just today I did release an album I’d been working on for awhile. “Blues Clubs” is now available on SoundCloud, YouTube, and for purchase on Bandcamp. I’ve linked the album in all three spots on my “Freshest Release” page. It will stay on those underground platforms for the foreseeable future as I want to focus on “Sloan” when it freshly hits stores. But there’s an entirely fresh project and one you’ve hopefully been enjoying now up to listen to in your favorite store!
I also have a couple big pieces of news work and technically wise. First of all I discovered the technique of using multiple mics to record one take or track. “Blues Clubs” is my first use of this technique. I really love the dynamics and depth it gives the sound. I’m going to need the money for more mics now haha! Secondly, my entire career has been done in Spatial Audio. I’ve studied and studied the complex, young technology and one point I always got stuck on was how to get the Encoded file which is what you hear in the stores when streaming Dolby Atmos. To no avail I searched for years but Apple finally released the capability to create your own, finished, Encoded files in their music production software (which I use). I’m head over heels excited about it.
It’s still difficult to find a way to play the files correctly but it can be done and I’m loving it. I released the encoded files of “Blues Clubs” to SoundCloud and in the YouTube video (Bandcamp would not accept them). What you’re hearing on SoundCloud and YouTube is the encoded files but I will clarify a “dumbed down” version of the files. SoundCloud and YouTube do a kind of down mixing file-wise so it’s closer to Encoded Dolby Digital Plus but not quite what you’d hear in an Atmos streaming store.
Anyway I know I had quite a few updates and some were technical but I appreciate the love and support as always! Be sure to give “Blues Clubs” a check and look for “Sloan” in your favorite store on the 30th. Until Next 😁🙏🏻
Humbly Yours,
